Czech ambassador, trade adviser visit Bicol

CZECH Ambassador H.E. Jana Šedivá and Economic and Trade Counsellor Mr. Benjamin Žiga visited Legazpi City, Naga City, and the Municipality of Pili, Camarines Sur on July 27-30, 2019 to strengthen economic and cultural relations in the region.
During the visit, they met with City Mayors Nelson Legacion of Naga City and Noel Rosal of Legazpi City and discussed areas for partnership. They also met with Archbishop Rolando Tria Tirona of the Archdiocese of Caceres in Naga City and the Presidents of Ateneo de Naga University, Unibersidad de Sta Isabel, and the Pili Parochial School where various activities in their respective institutions were prepared such as forum and dialogue with the students.
Apart from the cultural and educational perspective, the Czech envoy also met with the Chambers of Commerce in each city to discuss business opportunities in the Czech Republic and also to know more about businesses in Naga City and Legazpi City.
The visit was done in conjunction with the opening of the “Meanwhile, Elsewhere” Comic Exhibit of the Czech Embassy in Ateneo de Naga University. Czech comics is being described as “a highly advanced and progressive artistic discipline in the Czech Republic, thanks to its permanent existence in last 100 years and its ability to flexibly and accurately comment on political and socio-economic development of the country.
The fate of Czech comics included periods of highly creative freedom, but also times of stagnation and control… and much has changed in both the Czech Republic and its comics since democracy was restored in 1989.”
The exhibit is set to go around the Bicol region until January 2020.
