Peñafrancia Shortfilm Workshop

The Caceres Commision on Communication (CCCom), through its director, Rev. Fr. Louie Occiano, sponsored a three day seminar workshop on shortfilm production. Ms. Pie Mabanta - Fenomeno, VP for Operations and the media production team of the Communication Foundation for Asia (CFA) conducted the digital production training. Ms Fenomeno is a Creative Director and Producer, with solid experience in multi-media as applied in broadcast and mainstream media.

The 3 - day seminar workshop (July 26-28, 2019) has 45 participants, mostly Senior High Schools students from the provinces of Camarines Sur, Albay and Sorsogon. It was held at the Caceres Lay Formation Center, Basilica Compound Naga City. As a preparation for 5th Peñafrancia Short Film Regional Contest this year, the participants were grouped together to come up with a short production based on the topics.

During the sessions, the participants learned on how to make video presentations by applying the 3 Basic Structures in media production namely: Composition, Execution and Assembly. In addition, they learned how to conceptualize storylines that tackle the current issues of fake news, cyberbullying and online privacy.

Aside from teaching the participants how to edit videos after actual shooting, the seminar also challenged the participants to bring the message not only to entertain but more importantly will transform the audience to the gospel values. As a final output, three(3) groups produced narrative and documentary films.
