2 clashes in one day in CamSur
LEGAZPI CITY --- Five suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were wounded on Tuesday (Aug. 13) afternoon during a clash with Philippine Army (PA) soldiers in a remote village in Caramoan, Camarines Sur, an Army report said on Wednesday.
Major Ricky Aguilar, 9th Infantry Division public affairs chief, said Army soldiers on patrol engaged in a 5-hour running gun battle with some 50-man NPA rebel group in barangay Lidong of said town. The armed skirmish started at around 2:00 p.m. of Tuesday.
Agular in a phone interview said the clash led to the wounding of five rebels who were dragged along by their comrades while fleeing.
Earlier that day, Army soldier on patrol encountered a 30-man rebel group in Barangay Itangon, Bula town, also in Camarines Sur, at around 6:30 a.m.
The firefight lasted for 30-minutes before the rebels fled, leaving behind 3 backpacks containing personal belongings.
