Provincial trains USI-UDRRMC on ICS

The provincial government trained the University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (UDRRMC) of the Universidad de Sta. Isabel (USI) on Incident Command System (ICS) last 23 August 2019 at USI, Naga City. The training was part of the provincial government’s efforts to provide DRRM support, not only to barangay residents and government institutions, but also to private and academic institutions.

Apart from the university’s UDRRMC, over 60 administrators, faculty members, and non-teaching personnel also participated in the ICS training. DRRM Officers from the province’s Environment, Disaster Management, and Emergency Response Office (EDMERO) trained the said participants on the structure and functions of ICS.

Moreover, EDMERO trained the USI-UDRRMC on how to effectively operate the wireless radio communication system and how to provide a more effective response in case of disasters.

“This is the second time that EDMERO provided us with DRRM support. This training will help us, the UDRRMC, prepare our students in case of disasters. The more our UDRRMC becomes effective, the more we can ensure the safety of our students,”said UDRRMC Public Relations Officer, Nathalie C. Ranin, Ph.D. ICS is designed to enable effective and efficient domestic incident management by integrating a combination of facilities, equipment, personnel, procedures, and communications operating within a common organizational structure.

EDMERO also conducted ICS and DRRM trainings in other private and academic institutions, including Carmen Hotel, Centro Square Hotel, Camarines Sur National High School, Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, and Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology.
