Multi-million peso shore protection project completed in Masbate town
DURING the construction phase
PROJECT completed
CLAVERIA, Masbate --- The government’s Build, Build, Build program is gaining headway in this island town of Masbate after its P95M worth of shore protection project was recently reported to have been completed.
The project is a joint initiative of Masbate Rep. Narciso “Bong” Bravo and the Ako Bicol Party list Representatives Zaldy Co and Alfredo Garbin where a 290-linear meter shore protection walkway and embankment is being built.
District Engineer Walter Lubiano of the Masbate 3rd Engineering District office said the construction of the Claveria Shore Protection project is in line with Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s Build, Build, Build program aimed at boosting government infrastructure projects in Bicol’s remote towns.
The shore protection and causeway projects are expected to protect the residents living in three coastal villages from storm surges during bad and stormy weather, Lubiano said.
“It will serve as walkway towards the emerging business center of the town,” he said.
The project can be used as an integrated transportation terminal with a joggers lane, a fitness area, and as a children’s recreational park.
The project was begun in two phases: Phase 1 costing P47.5M completed in August 2018 followed by Phase II costing P47.4M completed on November 24, last year.
The project was turned over to the local government in a simple ceremony held over the weekend.
