#KAMISSION: 16th Children and Youth Mission Festival Conducted
In the celebration of the World Mission Sunday last October 20, 2019, the Commission on Mission of the Archdiocese of Caceres, headed by its current Director Rev. Fr. Gerome Pelagio, had conducted the 16th Children Youth and Mission Festival.
For this year, the said event was held at the Pili Capitol Convention Center which in return accommodated 1,424 children and youth coming from various schools, institutions and parishes around the Archdiocese of Caceres. The said event opened with the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist which was presided over by Rev. Fr. Francis Tordilla, Parish Priest of the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Jude Thaddeus, Naga City. In his homily he emphasized the importance of listening to be able to effectively participate in the Common Mission of the Church. After the mass, Rev. Fr. Jay Jacinto, the Vocation Director of the Archdiocese of Caceres conducted a simple vocation campaign to the participants and gave emphasis on following God’s plan for each one of us. Then followed a talk given by Rev. Fr. Marlon Entico Eleosida, S.D.B. who gave focus on loving oneself and self-appreciation before starting to move for mission. He also said that listening is also a valuable attitude so that others would also learn how to listen to them.
During the lunch break, the participants was serenaded by the VOX band 2.0 which is composed of seminarians coming from the Holy Rosary Major Seminary. After which, the participants danced to the groove of various animation music as they were led by the Youth Animators coming from the Central District. Various competitions were also held during that day. There were poster making, Essay Writing, Prayer Writing and the annual Quiz bee competition.
Following these are the various performances coming from some of the delegations’ present. During this part of the program, the children and the youth was given the opportunity to share their talents and skills by showcasing it during the Showcase of talents. The activity ended with the praying of the Rosary offered for the continuous success of all the missionary endeavor all over the world. The Children and Youth Mission festival is an annual event of the Archdiocesan office for Mission together with the CLAIM volunteer and seminarians coming from the Holy Rosary Major Seminary.
