A Family That Travels Together

After the 80th birthday anniversary celebration of my spouse Minda at the Villa Caceres Hotel on November 8, we traveled via Air Asia for a week’s family bonding to Macau. Macau is the Las Vegas of Asia with its opulent casinos and towering buildings. It is said that the city earns more than seven times than the casinos in Las Vegas. Added attractions, however, are the ruins of St. Paul’s Church, a 17th century Portuguese Church dedicated to St. Paul the Apostle; Senado Square which is a town square in Macau and part of the UNESCO Historic Center of Macau World Heritage site; Macau Fisherman’s Wharf which is like a theme park consisting of dining, entertainment, hotels and retail stores; and the Macau Museum that presents the history of this city and former Portuguese colony. We also had fun at the Macau Giant Panda Pavilion, where we had a rare glimpse of four giant Pandas eating bamboos and playing around. In downtown Macau we chanced upon the statue of the Italian Jesuit Mateo Ricci, Servant of God, who is said to be one of the founding figures of the Jesuit China missions. Macau has fascinating contemporary architecture, from its tallest building, the Grand Lisboa, to its luxury hotels like The Venetian, Morpheus Hotel, and the Parisian. If it is said that a family that prays together stays together- it can also be said as well that a family that travels together grows together.

At a press conference held in Malacanang earlier this evening (Wednesday), the President has candidly expressed his lack of trust and confidence on VP Leni Robredo as drug czar and co-chairperson of Aaron Aquino in the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD). With this open and candid statement of lack of trust and confidence,it behooves upon VP Leni in the highest principle of public interest to either tender her resignation or convey to the President her leaving the post. Supposedly his lack of trust emenates from her being in the Opposition and constant critic of Duterte’s Operation Tukhang and after she asked for copies of the list of supposed drug lords. As correctly pointed out by Senator Panfilo Lacson, she has become untenable in the Duterte administration.
