LEGAZPI CITY -- Classes in Albay remained suspended in all levels for both private and public schools until weekend, the Albay Public Safety Emergency and Management Office (APSEMO) said.
APSEMO chief Cedric Daep said the suspension of classes order signed by Albay Gov. Al Francis Bichara is effective until Sunday (Dec. 8).
“The existing class suspension in all levels is due to the effect of Typhoon Tisoy in the province,” he said.
Daep added that his office is offering free calls (Viber, Messenger, Smart, Sun and Globe) to Albayanos affected by Tisoy.
“To assure their families that they are safe and okay, they can go to APSEMO office and look for Ms. Roslyn Dineros,” to avail of the free call service, he said.
Meanwhile, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-Bicol reported that the power situation is still critical in the region.
OCD-Bicol regional director Claudio Yucot said power is still unavailable in the provinces of Albay, Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, and parts of Camarines Sur.
“We have to wait for the inspection and total assessment of the power providers since lots of poles and lines were damaged by Tisoy,” Yucot said. (PNA)
