CamSur PNP receives 2 patrol boats from BFAR

NAGA CITY---The Philippine National Police (PNP) provincial office here has received two motorized boats from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) early this week to be used in patrolling municipal waters in Camarines Sur province to prevent illegal fishing activities and other crimes.

Police Colonel Roderico Roy Jr., director of the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office (CSPPO) said a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between BFAR and the Police Regonal Office 5 stating BFAR’s support to PNP in terms of guarding coastal areas.

Roy said BFAR provided the six provincial police offices in the region with motorized boats to be used by sea rangers in their training and patrolling coastal areas in the region.

The MOU provides for closer cooperation and actions between the two agencies to protect the marine life and environment in the province.

The police official said that the two boats will be deployed and operate in Ragay Gulf and San Miguel Bay, which covers Mercedes town in Camarines Norte, Cabusao, Calabanga, Tinambac, and Siruma.

He expressed optimism that the boats will strengthen the campaign against illegal fishing and other crimes.
