CAFGU member hacked dead

CARAMOAN, Camarines Sur--A farmer identified as a member of the Citizen Armed Force Goegraphical Unit (CAFGU) of the Philippine Army was hacked to killed by a fellow farmer in Barangay Ili here in the afternoon of Dec 23.

The victim, identified by police authorities as Jaime B. Versoza, 37, of Barangay III, suffered severe hack wounds inflicted by the suspect,Porfilio A. Berja, 52 of the same barangay.

Patrolman David DC. Catangui III, the investigator on case told Bicol Mail that the victim was passing in front of the suspect’s house when the incident took place.

Catangui said Versoza was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Ferdie R. Palima of the Caramoan Municipal Hospital. He suffered nine hack wounds in various parts of his body.

He said the motive behind the hacking is an old personal grudge between the two. Prior quarrels between the duo were recorded in the barangay and resulted in the filing of a case in the Municipal Trial Court (MTC).

The police is still looking for the suspect who fled towards a mountainous area after the incident.
