Police nab rebel, 4 wanted persons
NAGA CITY--- The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camarines Sur has arrested five persons, including a member of the New People’s Army (NPA) who is listed as No. 2 in Ragay most wanted persons recently.
Police Corporal Alcid Baquiran identified the NPA member as Alden P. Barcelona, 51, a resident of Hamorawon, Mercedes, Camarines Norte. He is charged with murder and frustrated murder under Criminal Cases No. L-6649 and L-6650, respectively before Regional Trial Court Branch 57 based in Libmanan, Camarines Sur.
Barcelona, was served with the warrant of arrest issued by RTC Branch 57 acting presiding Judge Manuel G. Salumbides on Dec. 30 at 8PM while detained at the Camarines Norte Provincial Jail. He was allegedly involved in the armed encounter between government forces and rebels in Labo, Camarines Norte last month.
No bail was recommended for Barcelona’s murder case. However, he is allowed to post a P200,000. bail for the case of frustrated murder.
Baquiran said that Barcelona admitted that he participated in the armed encounters, which killed and wounded army soldiers and policemen during several occassions.
Barcelona is accused as one of the communist rebels responsible for the attack in Labo, Camarines Norte last month despite of the holiday cease fire agreement. The ambush was condemned by PNP and 9th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army during the nationwide indignation protest in the morning of Dec 26, the 51st founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
In Milaor, Camarines Sur, police authorities arrested Alfredo D. Quirobin, Jr., 43, in the afternoon of Dec 27 at Zone 3, Barangay Alimbuyog after five years of hiding from the law. He is charged with the crime of rape under Criminal Case No. 2014-0128 before RTC Branch 62 in Naga City.
In an interview, Police Captain Antonio R. Per Jr., chief of the Milaor Municipal Police Station (MPS) said Quirobin is ranked No. 5 in their list of wanted persons.
Per said the suspect raped a mentally ill woman living in the same town five years ago.
In the coastal town of Sagñay, police arrested on Dec. 28 a laborer named Allan DR. Clerigo, 25, in Barangay Turague.
Police Senior Master Sergeant Francisco Rubia said Clerigo is ranked No. 9 in the list of wanted persons of the Sagñay MPS.
Rubia refused to give clues to identify Clerigo’s victim but according to the arrest warrant issued by Presiding Judge Noel D. Paulite of RTC Branch 30 in San Jose, Camarines Sur, the suspect is charged under Criminal Case No. CC 2018-5059 for violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
In a related news, a farmer named Albert DS. Clemente, 32, of Sitio Bocol, Barangay Calagbangan, Sipocot was arrested by police operatives in the morning of Dec 30 in his hiding place at San Juan Avenue, Barangay South Centro of the same town.
Clemente is facing a qualified theft case with a recommended bail of P24,000 under Criminal Case No. CC L-6797 of RTC Branch 57.
On the same day in Pili town, police authorities nabbed a carpenter named Lito DM. Boninggot, 38 in Barangay Del Rosario.
Boninggot is facing a Criminal Case No. CC P-6163 before RTC Branch 32 in Pili, Camarines Sur for violation of RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
