5th Peñafrancia Short Film Festival Awards Night All Set


The Caceres Commission on Communications will hold the Red Carpet and Awards Night of the 5th Peñafrancia Short Film Festival on January 18, 2020 at Universidad de Sta Isabel Auditorium, Naga City.

With the theme “The YOUTH with INA: Beloved, Gifted, Empowered” the festival highlights the youth as stewards of creation and builders of a bright future.

The Board of Juror is composed of the Bicolana Actress, Ms Shamaine Centenera; from Comunication Foundation for Asia, Ms Pie Mabanta Fenomeno; Bicolano Film Director Anjamar Rebeta and Alec Figuracion, Actor Marc Felix and Msgr Rodel Cajot, Basilica Rector.

Since 2013, PSFF has given aspiring student filmmakers a platform to develop their talents and promote the devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia.

There are two categories for this year’s festival, the school category and the parish youth category. In the school category, participating schools must submit a 10 to 20-minute short film consistent with theme. In the parish youth category, the parish youth organization from the various Bikol dioceses must submit a one-minute infomercial presenting advocating Christian Values, care for God’s creation and social transformation. Nine (9) official entries, written and directed by high school students, will compete this year. They are: DUSAY by Patricia Anne Garcia of Ateneo de Naga University Junior High School; INAKO by Mark Jovan Bricia of Baao National High School; LAKAW by Alfranz Joy Cambiado of Ligao National High School; PANGITOROGAN by Joshua Alano of Naga City School of Arts and Trades; SINAG by Julieus Orias of San Fernando National High School; BAGONG TIPAN by Kim Anjho Diaz of Sorsogon National High School; PANYO by Hendrex John Olaviaga of University of Nueva Caceres Senior High School; DAY 193 by Cheron Mika Vinzon of Universidad de Santa Isabel Senior High School; and MIDBID by Monica Francia Prades of La Consolacion College -Baao

Meanwhile, there are five official entries for the Parish Youth Category: Parish of St. Raphael the Archangel, Basud, Camarines Norte; Parish of St. Jude Thaddeus, Concepcion, Naga City; Parish of Immaculate Conception, Naga City; Parish of St Raphael the Archangel, Pili, Camarines Sur and Parish of St. Anthony of Padua, Iriga City.

The films will be judged based on the following criteria: Adherence to theme – 20%, originality and creativity – 25%, composition and coherence of audio and video -15%, quality of editing and cinematography- 25% and overall performance of cast -15%.
