P136M shabu seized in Matnog, Sorsogon

LEGAZPI CITY -- Two alleged drug pushers were caught with P136 million worth of suspected shabu on Thursday (Jan. 16) morning by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at the Matnog port in Sorsogon province.

Cotton Talento, PDEA-Bicol spokesperson, said the suspects identified as Irish dela Peña and Jose Lani Racaza alias “Dong” were caught during an interception operation by their agents at around 10 AM.

PDEA operatives recovered from the suspects’ luggage teabags containing the suspected shabu with an approximate combined weight of 20 kilos.

Talento said the agency could not say whether the suspects were inbound passengers or outbound for the Visayas.

“The suspects were detained at the PDEA custodial facility here and would be charged with possession of illegal drugs under the Comprehensive Anti-illegal Drugs Act,” she added. (PNA)
