TKO win PH’s Mendoza vs Indonesia’s Nana Bau


RUMBLE IN KAPITOLYO. Camarines Sur Gov. Migz Villafuerte is ecstatic with the results of the recent boxing event held at the Capitol Convention Center wherein CamSur Sports Academy Alumnus, Michael Mendoza, won his boxing fight via KO against Indonesia’s Stevanus Nana Bau in only 1 minute and 42 seconds where he now holds the WBF International Flyweight Champion belt. Likewise, in the main event, Al Sabaupan of Sipocot also disposed his Indonesian opponent, Ray Raharjo, via KO in 2 minutes and 32 seconds. In the undercard fights, Kresler Tenorio of CamSur also won against Emilito of Batangas; JR Lacsina of Batangas won versus Ryan Fullero of CamSur; the fight of Jerwin Mejes of Parañaque City versus JR Sollano of Alabang Muntinlupa ended in a split draw; and Ronniel Tabayag of CamSur prevailed over won Menard Avila of Mandaluyong City. jmts/rbmjr/mmec01222020 with photos from fb_provinceofcamsur



Philippines’ Michael “Captain Barbel” Mendoza is the World Boxing Foundation International Flyweight Champion after a technical knockout fight against Indonesia’s Stevanus “Time Bomb” Nana Bau in 1 minute 42 seconds time.

Boxing enthusiasts, family and supporters, tourists from different parts of the world gathered in Convention Center, Capitol Complex, Cadlan, Pili on January 18, 2020 to witness the Rumble sa Kapitolyo presented by Hardstone Monis Promotion, in coordination with the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur under Governor Miguel Luis R. Villafuerte.

Mendoza stunned the viewers after a swift and quick win against Nana Bau on the first round by a technical knockout improving his record to 11-1-2 (Win-Loss-Draw) with 4 KOs. The 21-year-old pride of Camarines Sur started his boxing career representing the Provincial Government’s sports education arm, Camarines Sur Sports Academy, which has produced high-caliber athletes who represent the province in national and international sports competitions.

“Sobrang saya ko po kasi hindi ko talaga inaasahan yung knockout sa round one, gusto ko lang na laruin muna yung laban,” shared Mendoza in an interview after his victory. “Maraming-maraming salamat po sa lahat na nandito at sumuporta sa akin at sa buong team namin,” he added beaming.

Supporting the Mendoza vs. Nana Bau main bout, Philippines’ Al Sabaupan also won by KO against Indonesia’s Ray Raharjo in 2 minutes 32 seconds time.
