“Common Elderly Gastro Intestinal Disorders” at Fellowship Lecture:

As its initial program for 2020, the Our Lady of Peñafrancia Parish Senior Parishioners Fellowship conducted its regular Elderly Health Lecture Series with the topic “Common Elderly Gastro Intestinal Disorders” last Sunday morning, January 19 at the Parish Hall here:

Dr. Andrew C. Espiritu, specialist in Internal Medicine Gastro Enterology, was Guest Lecturer.

He explained the disorders may result from the entry of food into the mouth, esophagus, stomach, intestines then the rectum. Symptoms include vomiting, abdominal pains and bowel movement, he said.

He discounted also the belief that running after meals causes appendicitis. Once food enters the stomach, it is digested by an acid as strong as Hydrochloric, he explained.

Composing the present Fellowship Board are: Tony Amparado (chairman), Ester Elopre (vchairperson), Edith Ravago (secretary), Ninfa Saballegue (treasurer), and Beth Ante (auditor).
