NAGA CITY — The Camarines Sur Chapter of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) welcomed the newly-sworn members of its Board of Directors (BOD) during chapter is 10th assembly held Feb. 28 at The Tent, Avenue Plaza Hotel, here.

Naga City First Lady, lawyer Marion Legacion and Milaor Mayor Anthony Reyes were the newest addition to the PRC Camarines Sur’s current set of BODs, joining re-electionists Mely de Guzman, Ed Yu of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Bicol, Eudeza Racadag, Jeremy Lo and Atty. Remelisa Alfelor-Moraleda to complete the seven seats for the chapter.

As the premier humanitarian organization in the country, PRC thrives through pure volunteerism with the mission to “alleviate human suffering and promote human dignity,” by serving the lesser segment of the society especially during the most vulnerable times.

This year’s theme, “PRC: Building Bridges to Humanitarian Success,” was graced by multi-awarded civic leader and current member of the PRC Board of Governors, Leonida “Baby” Bayani-Ortiz.

“One of my tasks is to orient new members of the board of directors and inculcate in them that service is a passion. You also need to be compassionate and bring these values whatever they do, wherever they go,” Ortiz said.

Ortiz was invited as the keynote speaker of the assembly being one of PRC’s most active volunteers. She is known in the field of women’s welfare and civic work with her involvement in several organizations in which she serves in various capacities.

She was president of the National Council of Women of the Philippines (NCWP), Inc. from 2013-2017. NCWP is the umbrella organization of all women’s organizations in the country. She is also the national president of the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) of the Philippines affiliated with the World YWCA, the oldest women’s organization in the world.

Former PRC Camarines Sur Chapter administrator Nanette Rodrigazo, now retired, was also invited to join the assembly and election of officers.

Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion, despite his busy schedule, also took time to express his support to the chapter.

“Through the years, PRC has contributed significantly to our country and fellowmen. Rest assured of our continued partnership, especially during my administration. In fact, we greatly appreciate that are partnership is getting stronger because we have a common goal of making the best for our community,” Legacion said. PRC Camarines Sur Officer in Charge France Fullante also thanked all the voting delegates who represented their respective offices and agencies.

The 7 newly-elected BODs will join the current BODs in serving their full-4 year terms; BOD Chairman Mayor Fermin Mabulo, the generous business tycoon Don Robert Obiedo, Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Camarines Sur Provincial Head Ana-Liza S. Macatangay, City Councilor Joselito Del Rosario, BISCAST Vice President for Academics Dr. Orbel Cepeda, Engr. Emerito Aman and UNC President Fe Lauraya.
