IN NAGA: City dad proposes 4 financial relief measures

NAGA CITY --- The sudden drop in income being experienced by small traders, workers and residents here since the implementation of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) that started Mar 17 this year, has prompted Councilor Joselito del Rosario to push for the enactment of four proposed ordinances that will help provide financial reliefs to the affected Nagueños.

In the first proposed ordinance, the councilor will push for the granting of moratorium from Mar. 1 to May 31, this year, on amortization of loan borrowers under the Naga City livelihood program of Metro Naga Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

This measure, which will be introduced during the session of the city council on Tuesday (Mar. 31) along with three other proposed ordinances, mandates the implementation of the moratorium including the non-imposition of interests and penalties on loans.

Del Rosario said that he is confident that his fellow councilors will support the passage of the measures, which will form the city government’s effort to alleviate the plight of Nagueños, especially those who are low income earners.

The second proposed measure seeks to grant moratorium on the monthly amortization payments of beneficiaries of the city government’s urban poor housing and resettlement program from Mar. 1 to May 31, 2020.

The third proposal is a moratorium on monthly rental payment of stall holders at the Naga City People’s Mall for the same period.

Del Rosario’s fourth proposed measures seeks to also extend the scheduled due date for the first quarter payment of real property tax and additional levy on real property for the special education fund (SEF) from Mar. 31 to June 30, 2020.

He also proposed the extension of due date in the payment of business taxes from Apr. 20 to May 15, 2020.
