Naga activates mobile markets

NAGA CITY --- Helping to minimize mass gatherings at public places like the Naga City People’s Mall (NCPM) and making food products more accessible to Nagueños, the Naga Market Stallholders Federation (Namasfed) has partnered with the city government in operationalizing market-on-wheels (MOW).

Intiated by the City Agriculture Office and the Market Enterprise and Promotions Office (MEPO), the market-on-wheels, also called agri-fair on wheels, offers residents with food products like rice, dried and fresh fish, meat, eggs, and vegetables with prices similar to those sold at the NCPM.

Ramon Florendo, MEPO and market chief, said the project is a win-win solution to strict home quarantine measures being implemented by the city.

For rice trader Pia Cado, the market-on-wheels allows her make it convenient for her fellow Nagueños by bringing the basic products to the communities thru the market-on-wheels project that will go around the city’s 27 barangays until April 26, this year.

Although the MOW organizers have come up the other day with a schedule and areas that will be visited, Florendo, said the schedule is subject to change as it depends on the discretion of the barangay chiefs. He assured the public that whatever changes in venues and dates would be made public in advance.

In a related development, a partnership was recently entered into by and between MEPO and Nueca Technologies. The collaboration is aimed at allowing the public to place orders for food products at the NCPM thru E-Commerce by downloading mobile apps: Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details… Apple App Store: https://apps.apple.com/ph/app/community-mart/id1441502347
