Balikbayan stabs auntie, student

CALABANGA, Camarines Sur --- A 23-year old balikbayan from the United States of America (USA), who has a history of drug addiction, was charged with two counts of attempted murder for stabbing his own auntie and another male person on Thursday (Apr. 23) morning in Zone 1, Sta. Cruz, Quipayo here.

Staff Sgt. Nancy Atun-Berbon, the investigator on case, identified the suspect as Miguel Jude Alarcon, 23 of the same barangay, who has history of drug addiction while in the USA. Report said he was sent back to Calabanga by his parents after he completed the drug rehabilitation program in America.

The police report said the suspect, who was restless and armed with a kitchen knife, stabbed his auntie Marty Arcayera, 52, who was preventing him from attacking Jestoni Alio, 21, a second year college student of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) Calabanga campus.

Berbon said, that relatives of the suspect observed changes in the behavior of the latter since the beginning of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

She said that based on their investigation, the suspect, who did not eat and sleep for days, suffered psychological problem, which led to the stabbing incident.

The police investigator said the auntie of the suspect sustained stab wounds in the lips, neck, and right shoulder, while Jestoni had stab wounds in the right shoulder, neck, eyebrow, nose, head, and other parts of his body.

Both victims are in stable condition.

The court handling the case against Alarcon recommended a bail of P72,000 for his temporary liberty.
