Siruma posts 1st Covid-19 suspect

SIRUMA, Camarines Sur --- The first suspected case of coronavirus (Covid-19) from this coastal town has been brought to the Bicol Medical Center in Naga City on Friday, Apr. 24 by personnel of the local government unit’s (LGU) Environment Disaster Management and Emergency Response Office (EDMERO) for swab test and self-quarantine.

Siruma town Mayor Carina Polinga said the Covid-19 suspect is in home quarantine in Naga City, while waiting for the result of the test, Polinga said that on Apr. 23 the Municipal Health Office (MHO) received information that the town resident is considered as a close contact of a Covid-19 patient in the province.

She said MHO personnel immediately traced the resident, checked for symptoms and placed the suspect in strict home quarantine.

The suspect’s transfer to BMC for swab test was coordinated by the MHO with the Provincial Epidemiological Surveillance Unit (PESU) and the City Health Office (CHO) of Naga.

The mayor said that the suspect shows no symptoms and her town remains free from Covid-19.

She assured her constituents that she will announce the result of the swab test once it is released by the DOH.
