1 slain, 5 nabbed in Bicol drug ops
LEGAZPI CITY --- An alleged drug pusher, who is classified as a high value target, was slain in a shootout, while six others were nabbed by police anti-narcotics operatives in separate drug stings in three Bicol provinces on Monday (May 11) evening.
Suspected shabu worth almost P300,000 was seized in the operations in Masbate, Camarines Sur and Albay provinces, Maj. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Police Regional Office-5 spokesperson said.
“In Albay, suspect Bobby Vargas, 40, of Barangay Cormidal in Tabaco City was caught selling shabu in a drug operation in said village at around 6:40 PM. Police recovered from the suspect five shabu sachets weighing 20 grams with street value of P136,000,” she said.
In Camarines Sur, Jonil Borromeo, 41, considered a high-value target illegal drug pusher, was killed after resisting arrest by policemen in Barangay Del Rosario, Iriga City around 6:00 PM.
Police recovered from the suspect a 38-caliber handgun,and sachets of shabu with unspecified weight and worth.
In Buhi town also in Camarines Sur, suspects Bobby, 42, and Christopher, 43, both surnamed Samantela; and Christopher Arroyo, 36, all residents of Barangay De Los Angeles, were caught selling shabu to an undercover police agent around 7:15 PM.
The suspects, also considered as high-value targets, yielded nine sachets of shabu worth P125,000.
In Palanas, Masbate, Leynard Bryan, 34, likewise a high-value target, was caught in possession of two sachets of shabu in a drug sting in Barangay Nabangig. (PNA)
