Army bus ferries home 14 stranded UP students

PILI, Camarines Sur --- Fourteen students of the University of the Philippines (UP) from Naga City stranded at the UP Diliman Campus in Quezon City would be fetched on Tuesday, May 18 and be brought home the following day, the chief of the Army’s 9th Infantry Division (9ID) Public Affairs Office (DPAO) said.

The UP scholars have been marooned at the Diliman campus since Mar. 15 following the declaration of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), a measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, according to 9ID DPAO chief, Major John Paul Belleza.

Belleza said the “Iskolar ng Bayan” would be fetched by an Army air-conditioned bus and leave the UP campus for Naga City at around 9:00 AM. They are expected to arrive at Milaor town 5:00 PM on May 20, where they would be processed by health officials of the Naga City government.

The students would be brought to the city quarantine facility and undergo 14-day quarantine procedure before they would be allowed to go home.
