The Archdiocese of Caceres and Mass Media

The Local Church of Caceres sees the power of mass media in fulfilling her mission of proclaiming the Good News. Hence, the Archdiocese, through the Media Arm, the Caceres Communication on Communications (CCCom), maximizes the use of the multi media in promoting the mission of evangelisation.

Considered as the maiden of all the ministries and commissions, the CCCom promotes through its varied programs in multi media all the activities and programs of the local Church. CCCom believes on the idea, “if it is good news, it must be shared, so that others will be inspired to do the same”

In the broadcast media, the Radio Caritas Mariae 98.3fm of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate (FFI) has been upgrading its station. It offers prime time slots for the Casarig program which deals with the varied ministries of the archdiocese. This Pandemic season, CCCOm has come up with Casarig, Kadamay sa Covid19 special program to give inspirations to the people. Radio Caritas has also other programs for Bible on the Air and other pastoral and catechetical radio shows. Another radio program, Manindugan, aired every Sunday (8:00-9:00am) at DWNX 91.1fm. It tackles different issues and advocacies that promote the gospel values.

In the Print media, the Bicolmail carries the weekly news of the Archdiocese in Caceres Inbox. The partnership with Bicolmail, headed by Mr. Nilo Aureus, started last 2008 during the preparation of the Tercentenary of the devotion to Our Lady of Penafrancia. Since then, the archdiocese has regularly published all the canonical documents like circulars, announcements and other advocacies.

Now we live in a new age of technology, and it is having massive, unforeseen effects. If you want to be relevant, be present in the Social Media. Social media allows churches to connect with their members, as well as people who may not attend church. The World Wide Web offer a free, easy way to promote church events and strengthen our community even those outside the geographical location of the archdiocese. Considering the enormous advantages of the social media, the Archdiocese maintains Facebook Page, Twitter, Youtube accounts.

During this Covid19 pandemic, the Facebook page of the archdiocese continues to air livestreamin of daily and Sunday Masses. It has also tie up with other FB accounts nationwide that air important liturgical celebrations in the archdiocese like Episcopal ordinations, Penafrancia Fiesta, Holy Week celebrations. The CCCom also acknowledges the talents of young bicolanos in their abilities to produce shortfilms. The special project , Penafrancia Short Film Festival is already on its 5th year of showcasing the talents of young Bicolanos. Numerous films that promote the devotion to INA and also Christian values had been shown not only locally but also abroad.

More than these activities of the ministry is the desire to be of service to the local media practitioners. The CCCom conducts spiritual formations and training to the local media. Several fora and seminars had been sponsored. Annual Lenten and Advent recollections had always been anticipated and participated by the local media. It is in christianizing the media that we will expect a better society.

The Local Church of Caceres is always grateful with all the volunteers and partners in realizing the mission of proclaiming the Good News. There are many benefactors who silently offer financial and spiritual support to the CCCom. These are the people who continue to inspire the Church in promoting the gospel values through modern means of communications.

We also welcome those who want to support us in realizing Christ’s mission in the world of mass media. For your donations:
