Naga LGU establishes ‘Ligtas Covid Center’

NAGA CITY --- The imminent threat of Covid-19 virus, which globally affected people from all countries and races cannot be ignored. Thus, the Naga City government cannot also be complacent, more so, that the general community quarantine (GCQ) was already downgraded to modified GCQ (MGCQ) effective June 1. Thus, Mayor Nelson Legacion, pursuant to Department of Health’s (DOH) Joint Administrative Order No. 2020-0001 mandating the establishment of Local Isolation and General Treatment Areas for Covid-19 cases (LIGTAS-COVID) and the Community-based management of Mild Covid-19 cases, came up with a “One-Stop-Shop” facility for coronavirus related cases.

Legacion said that the city government will put its constituent’s safety on top of its priorities amid the Covid-19 pandemic and strengthening the operation of the LGU’s facilities will be one of the best strategies to stop the spread of the virus.

The One-Stop-Shop” will be at the Jesse M. Robredo (JMR) Coliseum. All Covid-19 related concerns will be settled, assessed and will be responded here by the Incident Management Team (IMT) and other support groups.

Naga City IMT commander Rene Gumba said that with the opening of the city’s borders, there is a need to also strengthen measures that will protect the welfare of Nagueños.

“Now that the city’s borders will be opened to Nagueños who were stranded in Manila and other neighboring provinces and wanted to come home, we cannot of course stop them but we have to put in place protocols to ensure the safety of the community. One best way is to establish a record system for contact-tracing purposes,” Gumba said.

Each barangay will have to do their part by providing documentation of the individual’s whereabouts upon their arrival.

More so, the IMT shall also be notified if there are Covid-19 suspected cases.

If an individual is a Covid-19 suspect, his family have three choices: first, his relatives will send him to the quarantine facility; second, he will be fetched by a private vehicle with a trained personnel; and third, he will be fetched by an ambulance with medical crew wearing their Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
