Camsur farmers receive aid through ‘Ka Fuerte Farmers Assistance Program’

Amid the drawback of COVID-19 pandemic, hundreds of farmers from the municipality of Libmanan benefitted from the agricultural livelihood assistance program dubbed as “Ka Fuerte Farmers Assistance” of the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur in partnership with the Department of Agriculture to help boost farmers’ productivity.

On May 30-31, 2020, farmers from different barangays of Libmanan were the first to benefit from the program. In Mambulo Nuevo, 200 free range chicken (FRC), 200 live ducks, 100 bags of hybrid rice, and 100 bags of Urea fertilizer were awarded to the farmers. Meanwhile, 100 bags of yellow corn, 100 bags of (14-14-14) fertilizer, and 1,020 sets of vegetable seeds were distributed to farmers in Cambalidio.

Delia Autor, a 62-year old farmer from Bahay, Libmanan who received five free range chicken,shared, “Naoogma po ako ngunyan ta nagkaigwa po ako ning aatamanon na manok na papadakulaon asin papadakulon ko para igwa kaming pandagdag sa panggastos sa harong. Dipisil po baga ngunyan ang pagbuhay. Nagtitinda man sana po ako nin merindalan arog kan pinangat digdi sa barangay mi.”

She added, “Dakula mi pong pasasalamat ki Gov. Migz asin Cong. Lray ta nagigirumduman ninda kaming mga kasaraditan sa arog kaining paagi. Sobra-sobra po kaming nagpapasalamat!”

Emma Briz, another farmer-beneficiary from Tarum, Libmanan, was also delighted to be a recipient of the program. She received one sack of hybrid rice and one sack of Urea fertilizer.“Nagpapasalamat po ako ta nadagdagan po itong nakatagama kong banhi na gagamiton ko na kuta sa pagtanom. Ini pong nakua ko ngunyan, iyo na po ini ang itatanom ko. Arog po samong kapobrehan asin saradit na mga paraoma, dakulang tabang po ini ta pag nakatanom na po kami ngunyan, may mapagkukuanan pa po kami sa mga masunod na dai mi na po babakalon.”

Apart from this, Emma was grateful for other assistances that she received during the pandemic, such as the relief goods and the cash assistance of the Department of Agriculture’s program to farmers.

On the next roll-out of the program, Ka Fuerte Farmers Assistance will be catering the municipalities of Milaor, San Fernando, Pamplona, and Libmanan. Each municipality has 500 beneficiaries and will receive one sack of hybrid rice seeds and one sack of Urea fertilizer each.
