ARCHIDIOECESIS CACERENSIS — Today we celebrate the 69th Anniversary of the Elevation of the Diocese of Nueva Caceres to an Archdiocese, by virtue of the Pope Pius XII’s Papal Bull Quo in Philippine Republica.
At the time of the issuance of the Papal document, the then-Diocese of Nueva Caceres was a suffragan territory of the Archdiocese of Manila, and was comprised of the entire Bicol Region. The Papal Bull also named the then-31st Bishop of Nueva Caceres, Most Rev. Pedro Paulo Santos, DD, as the First Archbishop of Caceres. At the same time, the Dioceses of Legazpi and Sorsogon were also created as suffragan territories of the new Archdiocese.
As we celebrate today the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, we seek the inspiration and intercession of our great apostles, that the Church in Caceres may continue to be a “a good community, where the seed of the grace of God has found fertile soil. A soil that helps to grow and bring fruit.” (cf. Archbishop Gabriele G. Caccia, 19 March 2019)

MOTHER DIOCESE — Since its creation as a Diocese in 1595, Caceres is blessed to be the Mother Diocese of many Dioceses in the Philippines.
69 years after the elevation of Caceres to an Archdiocese, get to know which Dioceses were once part of the vast jurisdiction of the See of Caceres. #CaceresNaga #CCComCaceres
