Responsible Citizenship

By strict order of President Rodrigo R. Duterte, the entire Metro Manila was again placed under MGCQ due to the unprecedented rise of Covid-19 incidents. Print, TV and other broadcasts media reports show that some of the Metro Manila residents have welcome the decision while most have expressed dissatisfaction as it would result to their going out of work again and go begging to find support for their families. To our mind, while the presidential order is justified, it behooves upon the residents of Metro Manila to be responsible enough in the observance of required rules which the WHO and the DOH have been repeatedly urging the public on the wearing of face masks and if possible face shields whenever in public places or outside of their residences. This pandemic will not stop unless our people learn to cooperate. Correct me if I am wrong but it appears that the Philippines is ranking 2nd worldwide in pandemic incidents. I believe that it is about time that we learn from the lessons of what has happened in New York and some parts of the US continent including California where this unseen human enemy has spread and still spreading due to lack of public cooperation.

Locally. here in Naga we were doing well in our control of the pandemic incidents until some returning OFWs and other returning Metro Manila bicolano residents started to arrive without first subjecting themselves to Quarintine requirement. I understand from latest news reports that border control has been established in Del Gallego to check the incidents.
