DOH: 'More healthcare workers'

The Department of Health (DOH) Bicol regional office is hiring healthcare workers to augment the present health personnel in the different government laboratories and hospitals in the region.

Dr. Ernie Vera, DOH Bicol regional director, on Tuesday, Aug. 11, said that as of Aug. 6, the agency has filled 308 out of 406 approved slots for emergency hiring of healthcare workers in the region.

“We need them, for they will help us in giving the services we offer, technical staff in our laboratories and doctors, nurses in hospitals,” Vera said.

Vera added that some applicants were apprehensive; discouraged to apply because of the present situation. “Aside from compensation, we will conduct information and orientation for what they can expect inside the agency – for what they will do after hiring. We need to do this so that they will not be afraid to be part of DOH” he added.

Hired applicants will serve under contract of service for a minimum of three months to six months depending on the position applied.

Compensation for physician ranges from P59,000 to P75,000 while for nurses, starting salary is P32,000.

Other available positions were Doctors, Nurses, Medical Technologist, Laboratory personnel, Respiratory Therapist, Medical Equipment Technician, Pharmacist, Radiologic technologist, Nursing Support Personnel, Administrative Support personnel, Equipment/Facility Maintenance Personnel.

Vera said that for interested applicants, they must submit their application letter and other pertaining documents to the respective provincial hospitals, Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH), Bicol Medical Center (BMC) and Bicol Region General Hospital and Geriatric Medical Center (BRGHGMC).
