PSA holds pre-census training

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Camarines Sur provincial office has conducted simultaneous trainings of evaluators per municipality in connection with the upcoming 2020 National Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH) in the entire 4th District (Partido area) of the province on Aug. 3-24, 2020.

Clemente S. Manaog, PSA Camarines Sur chief, said the activity aims to train evaluators on how to conduct the 2020 CPH in order to implement the mandate of PSA as a primary census agency of the government.

According to the training facilitators, Johanna Barcena, Dante Baldosa and Babylon Armea, this year’s census covers the following: total population and their characteristics; total housing unit and their characteristics; other household characteristics; and barangay characteristics.

“CPH refers to the complete process of or inventory by, collecting, compiling, evaluating analyzing, publishing and disseminating data about the population and housing units in the country. It aims to provide government planners, policy makers and administrators with population and housing data on which to base their social and economic development plans, programs and policies,” the PSA said.

PSA has a mandate and authority to conduct periodic census for at least every ten years pursuant to RA No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, BP Blg. 72 and EO No. 352.
