Two priests recover from Covid-19

CAMALIGAN, Camarines Sur --- A parish priest here and the formator of the Holy Rosary Major Seminary in Naga City have recovered from the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) recently.

To recall, the Department of Health (DOH) in Bicol last month listed Bicol # 337 and 338 as diocesan priests of the Archdiocese of Caceres.

After the DOH released its bulletin on Bicol # 337 and 338, Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion, on July 26, announced that Fr. Austin John Ortinero, who is Bicol #338, gave his permission to be named in public to speed up contact tracing efforts.

On Saturday, Aug. 8, the Naga City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit, announced the recovery from Covid-19 of Ortinero, who is seminary formator. He was one of 72 recovery cases in the city.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Aug. 10, Camaligan Mayor Marilou Hirose said that Bicol #337 has recovered from the disease.

Hirose said the priest, who requested anonimity, was already discharged from the Bicol Medical Center and has returned to his parish.

As of Aug. 11, Camaligan has nine active Covid-19 cases while Naga City has 36.
