On “AGES OF INNOCENCE” (Published October 1, 2020) *Sandie Verdadero

- POROROPOT and OCTAVIO are two popular plays created by Ateneans of HS batch ’66 and HS batch ’72 respectively. Monlee George Caudilla, Boy Claro, Bidon Nabua, Cousin Ernie, my late brother Atty. Ben collectively produced the play under the superb guidance of the late Fr. James O’Brien, SJ. The comedy play in Bikol dialect amused everybody from all walks of life, students, professionals, bystanders. Everytime the play was staged it brought the house down provoking the ire of Sta. Cruz folks to rain stones at the roof of the gymnasium. I still recall the scene, Johnny Villaranda, a funny man (Batch ’69) story telling of his airport experience, making the audience funnier than himself. Also that strike the crowd with awe and bewilderment was the SLOW MOTION stabbing act of the culprit. The same was found guilty of the crime and handed down the penalty of RECLUSION PERPETUA laughably interpreted into Bikol as “MANGANTUD SA SILYA ELECTRIKA”. Octavio made history not only in Naga but also at St. Agnes Academy, Legaspi City. Primim Regnum Dei.
