CamSur gov’t to pay nurses salary hike

PILI, Camarines Sur --- Nurses working at the Camarines Sur Provincial Medical Center and nine district hospitals across the province will receive their salary increase effective Oct. 1, a provincial board member said.

Board member Angel Naval, who is the vice chairman of the Committee on Appropriation, said there is no need to wait for the approval of the 2021 budget of the province to implement the salary hike of nurses employed by the provincial government.

We will source that from the supplemental budget, he said.

Naval made the statement after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) approved the ordinance increasing the salary of nurses to P35,000/month from the previous pay of P20,000.

However, he clarified that nurses whose positions are administrative officers are not covered by the increase as only those who are in the plantilla as nurses are qualified.

Naval said they approved the salary increase of the nurses because they know who difficult their works are especially amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The provincial government of Camarines Sur has an approved budget of P 3.3 billion for 2020.

Aside from the Camarines sur Provincil Medical Center in Bula, Camarines Sur, other district hospitals funded by the provincial government are the: Ragay District Hospital; Sipocot District Hospital; Libmanan District Hospital; Ocampo District Hospital; San Jose District Hospital; Iriga City District Hospital; Tinambac District Hospital; Siruma District Hospital; and Caramoan District Hospital.
