Caceres to open new parish in Lagonoy

With the growing number of population, the Church’s pastoral ministry widens also. The need for more shepherds is an ongoing problem that the church faces.


Before the Covid Pandemic, the Caceres Clergy, in the presence of the Most Rev. Rolando Octavus Joven Tria- Tirona, the Archbishop of Caceres, unanimously approved the proposed parish in Lagonoy Cam Sur. This will be another parish that will serve the people in Coastal area of Lagonoy. The Omalo Catholic Mission Station will be the 94th Parish of the Archdiocese of Caceres. Under this Mission Station are the following Barangays and Sitios: Brgy. Manamok, Brgy. San Sebastian, Brgy. Panagan, Brgy. Kinahulugan, Brgy. Omalo. Brgy. Cabotonan, Brgy. Panicuan, Sitio Quinayangan, Sitio Baliwag.

Last October 10, the archbishop celebrated the Vespera Mass with Rev. Fr. Anthon John Valencia, the parish administrator during the Fiesta Mass in honor of Santa Maria Soledad Torres de Acosta, the Titular Saint for the proposed new Parish at Brgy. Omalo, Lagonoy, Camarines Sur.

Saint Maria Soledad Torres de Acosta or Madre Soledad is the foundress of Servants of Mary (Ciervas de Maria). Madre Soledad dedicated her life in caring for the sick.
