4 Sorsogon hospitals get P9.4-M new equipment
SORSOGON CITY --- Some P 9.4-million worth of new hospital equipment were given to four health facilities in the province to improve their services, Sorsogon Gov. Francis “Chiz” Escudero said on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Inaugurated recently on Nov. 19 were the hospitals in the towns of Donsol, Matnog, Bulan and Prieto Diaz. The renovations of the health facilities were intended to provide quality medical services to residents, Escudero said.
Escudero said the upgrading of all district and provincial hospitals managed by the provincial government is part of his administration’s program in providing quality medical service.
New equipment like X-ray machines, 2D Echocardiogram machines, ultrasound machines as well as new hospital beds, examination tables, air condition units, linens and pillows were just the few additions to upgrade the hospitals’ facilities aside from the physical improvements of the buildings.
“Naniniwala ako na sa ating paglalagay ng mga modernong kagamitan at pagpapaganda sa ating mga pagamutan, mas lalong magiging maigting ang paglilingkod ng ating mga health workers sa lahat ng mga Sorsoganon na mangangailangan ng kanilang serbisyo,” the governor said.
He also said 17 Rural Health Units (RHUs) buildings in the province are set to be renovated and will be provided with the necessary medical equipment like X-ray machines, ultrasound machines, and 2d echocardiogram machines. These improvement of buildings and facilities sre expected to be completed by 2021.
Escudero said ongoing renovations are also being done at the districts hospitals in Irosin, Gubat, Castilla and Magallanes Medicare Hospitals, which are expected to also be fully-equipped.
He added that aside from structural improvements and installing modern medical equipment, they have also set in motion a referral system for those in need of additional medical attention extending from the RHUs to the district hospitals then to the provincial hospital reaching up to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRRT) and to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).
“This system would help those who would need critical medical attention to avail of it in the country’s premiere public hospitals like PGH,” Escudero added.
Donsol District Hospital, which serves Donsol and Pilar towns, was the first to be inaugurated last Nov. 19. The hospital was the venue of a successful joint elective operations conducted by its doctors, and doctors from the Provincial Health Office and the Sorsogon Provincial Hospital (SPH) a week before.
Medical procedures conducted were Cholecystectomy, Hemorrhoidectomy and Disarticulations of left foot.
The newly renovated Matnog Medicare Hospital, which covers both Matnog and Sta. Magdalena towns, and Bulan Medicare Hospital, which only serves the highly-populated coastal town, were inaugurated last Nov. 20. Prieto Diaz Medicare Hospital and the Bacon District Hospital of Sorsogon City were also inaugurated last Nov. 21.
“Binigyan din natin ng pansin ang pagsasaayos sa mga Rural Health Units (RHU) ng mga munisipyo para mas maagap na matutugunan ang mga pangangailangang medical ng mga Sorsoganon sa bawat munisipyo at higit sa lahat, hindi na nila kinakailangan pang dumayo sa ibang munisipyo para mabigyan ng pang-unang lunas medikal,” he said.
Renovations are already ongoing at the RHUs around the different towns in the province including those in the different districts in Sorsogon City.
