The Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, through the EDMERO, successfully conducted the 2025 DRRM Animation Contest on July 16, 2025, at the Digital Transformation Center in Cadlan, Pili.

Seven schools participated in the event, namely: CamSur Animation, Nabua National High School, Naga City Science High School, San Roque High School, Tandaay Provincial High School, University of Nueva Caceres, and the University of Saint Anthony. Each participating school was represented by a five-member team composed of an animator, a scriptwriter, a dubber, and editors.

This event was designed to promote public understanding of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) strategies. It also served as a fantastic opportunity for young digital animators to showcase their skills, craftsmanship, and talent. Moreover, it provided a platform to empower youth to contribute their ideas, perspectives, and talents in the field of DRRM.

One of the participants, Jennelyn Casaul, a Grade 12 STEM student from Naga City Science High School, shared that although they had limited time to prepare, they were able to conceptualize possible DRRM topics just the day before the contest.

“Mas lalo pa pong maho-hone si mga abilities kan mga future animators ta ngunyan po kaipuhan talaga nin arog kaining mga animators kasi sa fast-paced world na nage-evolve ang technology, kaipuhan ta din makipagsabayan. ‘Pag nagdakol pa ini, mas dakol pang matatabangan especially sa mga information na kaipuhan tang i-present through animations arog po kaini,” Casaul shared, emphasizing the potential impact of animation contests on future generations.

Online voting for the animation entries of the seven schools officially began on July 17, 2025, and will run until July 30, 2025, at noon. Cast your votes on EDMERO CamSur’s Facebook page. The winners will be revealed on July 31, 2025, during the closing ceremony of the 2025 National Disaster Resilience Month celebration. PGO
