29K inoculated in Albay

Some 28,585 Albayanos were already inoculated with first and second doses of Covid-19 vaccines out of 874,800 total number of eligible residents, the Department of Health in Bicol reported.


Based on DOH data, at least 25,032 Albayanos were given the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and 3,553 for the second dose or a total of 28,585 out of the 874,000 population since the government conducted the vaccination across the country.


Legazpi City has the highest number of residents who underwent vaccination for the first and second rollout among the three cities and 15 municipalities in the province.


The DOH reported that since the vaccination roll out, Legazpi recorded 7,134 for the first dose and 2,182 for the second dose or a total number of 9,316 persons vaccinated followed by Ligao City with 3,839 for the first dose and 319 for the second dose or a total of 4,158.


Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal designated the Legazpi City Convention Center (LCCC); SM City Legazpi, LCC and Pacific Malls as vaccination areas to accommodate more senior citizens.


The city government of Legazpi is speeding up the vaccination of senior citizens classified under the A2 priority group who registered in their barangays or via electronic immunization registry.


In Tabaco City, about 3,690 people were vaccinated with first and second doses of Covid-19 vaccine. Among the 15 towns, Tiwi has the highest number of people vaccinated with 1,436 followed by Oas with 1,235, Daraga with 1,200, Pioduran, 1130, Camalig, 978, Bacacay, 737, Libon, 708, Malinao, 669, Sto. Domingo, 625, Manito, 515, Polangui, 457, Rapu-Rapu, 400, Malilipot, 369, and Jovellar, 355.


For regional scope, Bicol region has 64,446 first dose administered and 13,900 for second dose administered or a total of 78,346 Bicolanos inoculated as of May 18 out of more than 6 million population.


Senior citizens received two kinds of vaccines, the British-made AstraZeneca and China-made Sinovac from the 192,340 vaccines allotted by the DOH in the Bicol region for the first to third-level priorities.


Currently, more than 14,000 senior citizens across the region have received the vaccines, the DOH reported.


Dr. Rita Mae Ang-Bon, DOH-CHD COVID-19 vaccination focal person in Bicol said since the Covid-19 vaccination started in May, a significant number of senior citizens have been vaccinated. The DOH Bicol is targeting at least 536,000 senior citizens to be vaccinated.


“So far, we are doing well since we started the vaccination activity in May. And we have a total target of 536,000 senior citizens for the Bicol region,” she said.


From Mar. 27,2020 to May 21, 2021, Bicol recorded a total of 10,349 Covid-19 cases with 2,737 active cases, 7,240 recoveries and 372 deaths.
