MANILA ---At least 3,000 police officers will be deployed to ensure the safe and orderly opening of school year 2025–2026 on June 16, the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) chief said on Tuesday.
In a phone interview on Tuesday, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said the deployment is in line with the “Brigada Eskwela 2025” which aims to support students, parents, teachers, and school administrators during the start of the school year.
“Our goal is to provide a safe learning environment for our students and peace of mind for their parents and guardians. We are working closely with local government units, school officials, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth school opening,” Dizon said.
He said their personnel will perform foot patrols, mobile patrols, and manning Police Assistance Desks (PADs) strategically placed in key areas near schools, transport terminals, and major thoroughfares.
To deter any threats to public safety, the PRO-5 will intensify its visibility patrols around school zones and nearby communities.
“This proactive approach seeks to prevent crimes such as theft, bullying, extortion, illegal drug activities, and other acts that may disrupt peace and order, especially in highly populated and urban school areas,” he said.
The PRO5 said it will also continue its intensified anti-criminality operations, including checkpoint operations, Oplan Sita, and anti-drug enforcement activities.
“Our police must attend all community activities to ensure public safety and maintain peace and order. We are getting in touch with school officials and the barangay officials,” he added.
The hotlines of all police stations within the region are operational 24/7 and ready to receive emergency calls and incident reports.
The public is encouraged to report suspicious activities or emergencies so that authorities can respond at the earliest possible time.
The police also reminded the public to stay vigilant, observe personal safety measures, and immediately report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station. (PNA)
