By Mar Arguelles

Four suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed in a clash with Army soldiers on Monday, Feb. 1, in a remote village in Garchitorena, Camarines Sur, an Army report said.

Capt. John Paul Belleza, 9th Army Infantry Division public affairs chief, said the firefight resulted in the death of four NPA rebels whose identities are yet to be determined.

Army troopers were on combat patrol when they encountered a group of NPA rebels belonging to the Guerilla Front (GF) Larangan 1 operating in the province at around 11:00 AM in Barangay Toytoy.

Soldiers recovered from the scene nine assault rifles, four of which belonged to the slain rebels.

Belleza said government troops are still pursuing the fleeing rebels. (PNA)
