AMIDST the rising Covid-19 cases in Bicol, at least six establishments among them were two Regional Trial Court (RTC) branches, a government bank, a government office, and two public school in Legazpi City were placed on lockdown on Apr. 16 and 17 after six of their employees were infected by the virus.

The Legazpi City Interagency Task Force on the Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF) said it temporarily closed on Apr. 16 the Legazpi City Science High School and Bitano Elementary School in Barangay Bitano, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) regional office in Barangay Rawis, and the Land Bank of the Philippines (2nd floor office) in Barangay Cabagñan West.

While on Saturday, Apr. 17, the IATF also placed on lockdown Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branches 2 and 7 at the Hall of Justice building and the Bureau of the Treasury (BOT) office, all located at the regional government site in Barangay Rawis, Legazpi City.

Mayor Noel Rosal, Legazpi IATF chair, said the lockdown of these offices and schools would give sufficient time for the disinfection of the building and the completion of the contact tracing and testing.

Rosal said a notice for the lifting of the lockdown would be issued once the contact tracing and testing have been completed.

The closure of the six establishments brought to 14 public and private establishments that were placed on lockdown in the city since last year.

Meanwhile, in Naga City, several offices in the City Hall Compound were also closed on Monday, Apr. 19 including the office of the Metro Naga Water District. As of press time, the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office in Barangay Concepcion Grande is still on lockdown after several of its personnel were infected by the virus.
