72nd anniversary of Caceres as Archdiocese on June 29

METROPOLITAN CHURCH — After 356 years as a Diocese, the Holy Father Pius XII elevated the Church of Caceres to the “status and dignity of [a] Metropolitan Archiepiscopal See.” This was done through a Papal Bull which was issued by the same Pontiff on 29 June 1951, the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul.

The same document also established the Ecclesiastical Province of Caceres; which, up to this day, comprises the entire Bicol Region.

29 June 2023 marks the Anniversary of the Elevation of the local Church of Caceres into an Archdiocese.
