NAGA CITY - In response to the pastoral letter of Caceres Archbishop Rex Andrew Alarcon, Mother to All, for this year’s Peñafrancia Fiesta, the Saradit na Kristyanong Komunidad (SKK) of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Parish (ICP) organized its culminating activity for the annual Pagsungko ni Ina as a community gathered in prayer, catechesis and service.

Drawing together SKK members, religious sisters and students with hearing impairment, the activity held last August 29 began with a procession from the Parish Church to the Joseph Gualandi School for the Hearing Impaired. With the faithful were the images of Our Lady of Peñafrancia and El Divino Rostro.

Before the eucharistic celebration, students of the said School were given snacks and stampitas. A brief catechesis was also done. In his homily, Parochial Vicar Fr. Roy Gueriña said giving these is an act of sharing. “When we share, we do it with a smile on our face,” he said. “We are humbled. We become available to others. We are ready to serve and we entrust ourselves to God.”

The Manto ni Ina was imposed on all the students, teachers, Gualandi sisters, and the SKK members after the mass. The Pagsungko ni Ina to the Parish SKKs started last July 7. SKK leaders bring the image of Ina to families within their community, where prayer meetings are held during her stay. The Eucharist is celebrated in each sitio upon arrival or prior to the departure of Ina. Masses were well attended.
