As Naga City celebrated its 78th Charter Anniversary, the city paid tribute to one of its most distinguished families through the formal unveiling of the Arejola Mausoleum Historical Marker — a symbol of remembrance, patriotism, and enduring legacy.

The marker honors the Arejola family, whose contributions shaped both Naga’s local history and the broader story of the Filipino struggle for freedom. Through generations marked by courage and service, the family became deeply woven into the nation’s revolutionary past.

Among those remembered is General Ludovico Arejola, known for leading the Bicolano resistance during the Philippine-American War. Also honored was Don Tomas Arejola, a propagandist, member of the historic Malolos Congress, and representative of Ambos Camarines in the Philippine Assembly.

Equally celebrated is Fabiana Arejola, recognized as one of the Damas Beneméritas de la Patria — courageous women who supported Filipino revolutionaries through financial, material, and moral assistance during the country’s fight for independence. Her story highlights the often-unseen role of women in sustaining the revolutionary cause.

More than a heritage structure, the Arejola Mausoleum now stands as a lasting educational landmark dedicated to preserving the family’s remarkable story for future generations. City officials emphasized that the historical marker serves not only as a memorial, but also as a reminder of the values of courage, sacrifice, and love of country that continue to define Naga’s identity.

With the unveiling of the marker, Naga City strengthens its commitment to preserving cultural heritage and inspiring Nagueños to appreciate the people and stories that helped shape the nation’s history.
