ADNU law school posts 100%passing rate for 1st time takers

The passers of the 2020/2021 Bar examination have been announced on Tuesday, April 12. So too the performance of schools, including Ateneo de Naga University (ADNU) for having a 100 percent passing rate for first-time takers.


Belonging to Group 3 or those with 11 to 50 Bar takers, the ADNU is one of the seven law schools that have recorded a 100 percent passing rate for first-time takers. The six other schools are Bulacan State University, Jose Maria College, Mariano Marcos State University, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Siliman University, and University of Asia and the Pacific.


A part of the speech of Associate Justice and Bar Chairperson Marvic Leonen who announced the schools ratings reads: “We cannot also rank the law schools in group 3 (those with 11 to 50 bar takers) because 7 of the 61 schools had a passing rate of 100 percent for first-time takers.” Rather, they’re arranged in alphabetical order.


Meanwhile, the top five law schools with the most number of exemplary passers are the following: University of the Philippines with 147; Ateneo de Manila University with 100; San Beda University with 94; University of San Carlos with 57; and Arellano University with 39.


In alphabetical order, these are the schools with one excellent passer: Arellano University; Ateneo de Davao University; Far Eastern University; San Beda University; University of Cebu; and University of the Cordilleras.


Leonen congratulated those who passed the bar exam and reminded everyone, including those who didn’t make it, to prioritize honor and excellence above all else. How? The former by accepting success with magnanimity and humility; the latter with perseverance and inspiration to get back on one’s feet and accomplish more.


Out of 11,402 examinees who completed the 2020/21 Bar exam, 8,241passed which is equivalent to 72.28 percent passing rate.
