Allies rally behind Mayor’s bid for CSur’s 3rd District

MAYOR Nelson Legacion’s allies, particularly town officials and aspiring candidates within the 3rd district of Camarines Sur, are rallying behind his planned candidacy for congressman.

The leaders believe that Legacion’s proven leadership and capability can drive real change and progress in their respective municipalities and the entire district.

Supporters cite Legacion’s performance in Naga as a key reason for their confidence. Under his leadership, Naga was recognized as the Overall Most Competitive Component City in the Philippines by the Department of Trade and Industry’s Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index for three consecutive years (2021-2023).

Pili town Vice Mayor Francis Belen emphasized that Legacion’s leadership would significantly aid their development aspirations. Former Camaligan Mayor Malou Marquez-Hirosi and former Calabanga vice mayor Philip Dumalasa echoed similar sentiments.

They have witnessed first-hand the multibillion-peso infrastructure and lifeline projects completed and ongoing in Naga under Legacion’s administration.

Key projects include the establishment of four new development areas: Almeda, Sta. Cruz, Bicol Riverfront, and Mabolo-Tabuco.

The areas employ a mixed-use urban development design, integrating commercial, residential, institutional, and recreational spaces. These initiatives have received robust support from the private sector and national government agencies through funding and land donations.

Legacion’s allies have proposed organizing project tours within Naga to showcase these infrastructure achievements. The first tours will be attended by groups of Legacion’s supporters from Pili, with more groups scheduled to follow. Legacion believes these tours will help leaders learn more about Naga’s progress and development.

Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and successive calamities during his first term, Legacion remained steadfast in his vision for Naga. “We worked on our long-term objectives while attending to concerns at hand,” he said.

As Legacion’s candidacy gains momentum, his allies are optimistic that his leadership will bring the much-needed progress and development to the 3rd district of Camarines Sur.
