NAGA CITY — Aninag Incorporated has earned the backing of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–PENRO as it pushes forward with its Narra Nation campaign, an ambitious effort to plant 1 million narra trees across Camarines Sur.

Dr. Boying Llorin of Aninag presented the program to OIC PENR Officer Herleo Pavericio, technical head Minda Rivero, and PENRO foresters. Representatives from the Red Cross Camarines Sur Chapter, the Camarines Sur Medical Society, and Aninag officers and board members were also present.
DENR-PENRO expressed appreciation for the private-led initiative, noting that it aligns with their mandate to protect and restore the environment. They recommended prioritizing flood-prone schools and coordinating with the Department of Education to set up nurseries for narra seedlings. The agency will also assist in evaluating and properly sorting the 10,000 seedlings already prepared by Aninag.
With DENR’s guidance, Aninag plans to roll out the project in all five congressional districts, inviting both public and private partners to participate. The group aims for an 80% seedling survival rate through community involvement and sustained care.

The project will cover public and private land, including available lots in Naga City and nearby towns such as Bula, Sagnay, and Calabanga, which have expressed interest in joining the initiative. DENR committed to providing scientific expertise, technical solutions, and manpower, and to leading education and information campaigns about the narra species.
Aninag said its next step is to mobilize organizational leaders and community groups to support this nature-based solution to environmental threats affecting food security, public health, and local ecosystems. The group emphasized that the success of Narra Nation depends on shared responsibility, collaboration, and a collective push to build a more resilient future for the next generations.
