Anti-drug operation leads to arrest of 57 yr-old man

A 57-year-old man was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by police authorities on Monday morning, June 30, in Barangay La Opinion, Nabua, Camarines Sur, for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 or Republic Act 9165.
Identified only as alias “Migoy,” the suspected drug peddler is a married, unemployed resident of Nabua, Camarines Sur.
According to the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office (CSPPO), elements of the Nabua Municipal Police Station Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit (MDEU), led by PLTCOL Ciriaco M. Pacer Jr., assistant chief of police, conducted the anti-drug operation in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office V (PDEA ROV).
Authorities said the suspect was arrested after allegedly selling one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu to a police poseur buyer for P500.
During a subsequent body search, operatives recovered a Winston cigarette pack containing two additional sachets of suspected shabu and the marked P500 buy-bust money.
Police said the inventory and documentation of the seized items were conducted at the place of operation and recorded using two Alternative Recording Devices (ARDs) in the presence of the suspect and required insulating witnesses.
The confiscated suspected illegal drugs had an estimated gross weight of 2.2 grams and an estimated street value of Php 14,960.
The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights in a dialect he understood and was taken to the Nabua Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and disposition.
Meanwhile, the seized drug evidence will be submitted to the Provincial Forensic Laboratory Unit for examination. Charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of RA 9165 are being prepared for filing before the Prosecutor’s Office pending the release of the chemistry report.
