Bacacay town mayor dies due to aneurysm

LEGAZPI CITY --- Mayor Armando “Dinky” B. Romano, aged 45, from Bacacay town, passed away due to a cerebral aneurysm, as confirmed by Albay Governor Edcel Greco “Grex” Lagman. Romano experienced high blood pressure on Tuesday, leading to his hospitalization, but sadly succumbed on Friday at NICC hospital in Naga City during treatment.


Governor Lagman expressed condolences, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Mayor Armando “Dinky” Romano. On behalf of my family and the Governor’s Office, I extend my deepest condolences to Mayor Dinky’s spouse Lars and their three children.”


Following Romano’s demise, a memorandum issued by Bacacay’s municipal administrator, Lara C. Romano, designated Vice Mayor Edsel B. Belleza as the acting mayor. This designation empowers Belleza to handle municipal responsibilities and sign documents, acting on behalf of Mayor Armando B. Romano.


Libon Mayor Wilfredo “Das” Maronilla shared condolences on Facebook, highlighting Mayor Dinky’s leadership and expressing solidarity with the people of Bacacay.


Governor Lagman reminisced about their political alliance, praising Romano’s significant role in his victories, stating, “I am especially thankful to you and your team when you helped me win big in Bacacay in 2019.”


Under Romano’s leadership, Bacacay experienced gradual development, including the establishment of businesses. Romano, set to celebrate his 46th birthday on December 14, leaves behind a legacy as a devoted public servant who understood and cared for the people of Bacacay.
