Back to Square One
The Yuletide season is over and most of our family members and friends must have returned back to Metro Manila and other places to go back to their work and usual grind. Indeed, the beautiful memories of the season with our families and friends will linger on, but time bids us back once again to realities. It is sad to note however, that Metro Manila and some other parts of the country has been placed once again under Alert Level 3 for the sudden spread of Covid 19 or its variants. We have read from print and broadcast media reports that Mayor Isko Moreno of Manila has ordered the cancellation of the Traslacion on the Feast of the Black Nazarene in Manila, to avoid further spread of the dreaded virus. The decision was joined in by the Parish Vicar of the Quiapo Church to the disappointment of the Black Nazarene devotees. The decision however, was welcome and joined in by other Metro Manila Mayors. We in Naga City and the Province of Camarines Sur are most fortunate that we remain under Alert Level 2. This means we are still free to go to malls and other places of interest. Nonetheless, it is best that we continue observing the usual health protocols and keeping the required distance. Let us avoid going back to square one.
The Knights of Columbus, Monsignor Jorge Barlin Assembly (MJBA), will hold the Renewal of Vows of all its officers and members this coming Sunday, January 9. Officers from the District Assembly will conduct the Renewal of Vows. As past Faithful Navigator of the Assembly, I am encouraging all officers and members to attend. There will be a celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 8:00a.m. The usual fellowship will follow after the Renewal of Vows.
Congratulations also to all officers and members of the Order of the Knights of Rizal, Naga City and Camarines Sur Chapter for its successful commemoration of the 125th Martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal last December 30 at the Rizal Center. As a member of the Council of Elders, this writer was one of those who delivered a message. Dr. Mariano B. de Guzman, Naga City School Division Superintendent of the Department of Education, was the Guest of Honor.
