LEGAZPI CITY --- The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) recognized several personnel for their exemplary service and good deeds during the 31st Philippine National Police (PNP) Ethics Day celebration on Monday.

At the awarding rites in Camp Gen. Simeon A. Ola, PRO5 director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon emphasized the significance of ethical conduct and integrity within the ranks.

“This code serves as the moral compass for all PNP personnel, guiding their actions and decisions to ensure they meet the highest standards of professionalism and integrity,” he said.

Dizon said that by adhering to these principles, the PNP continues to build public trust and provide effective, honorable service to communities nationwide.

He said this year’s theme, “Serbisyong may Integridad at Pananagutan, Tungo sa Ligtas at Mapayapang Pilipinas,” serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of ethical conduct and moral responsibility in upholding public trust.

“It also provides a platform to remind every police officer of their duty to embody ethical practices in their daily responsibilities, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence throughout the organization,” he added.

Among the awards presented was the Medalya ng Papuri to Lt. Judith dela Peña of the 2nd Police Mobile Force Company (PMFC) of Albay Provincial Police Office. She was recognized for her exemplary service during an emergency involving an 80-year-old handicapped man experiencing a severe asthma attack. Dela Peña facilitated the victim’s urgent transport to Cotmon Clinic in Camalig, Albay, playing a crucial role in safeguarding his health and well-being.

The Medalya ng Ugnayang Pampulisya was awarded to several deserving officers, including Capt. Ralph Alfred Bongalbal of the 2nd PMFC in Camarines Norte, for his outstanding leadership and compassion in conducting a gift-giving and feeding program that brought joy and support to children from the Manide Tribe.

Capt. Jerson Recuenco of the Juban Municipal Police Station also received the same award for his invaluable service in installing solar street lights as part of “A Gift of LOTERINA” (Leading the way in making Opportunities for a brighter Tomorrow through Empowering communities by Restoring Peace and Order in pursuit of Nation-Building) project in Barangay Dita, Gubat, Sorsogon.

Senior M/Sgt. Hilben Matiaga of the Naga City Mobile Force Command was recognized for facilitating livelihood training for 125 individuals from various barangays in Naga City, which provided knowledge and opportunities through food processing training.

S/Sgt. Gelmar Domagtoy of the Catanduanes 2nd PMFC was also honored for his services in the construction of a temporary bridge for the residents of Barangay Sagrada, Bagamanoc, Catanduanes. This bridge was essential for transporting goods and essential supplies to neighboring barangays after the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

Dizon added that the event served as a reminder of the PNP’s firm commitment to its core values of service, honor, and justice.

It also highlighted the importance of recognizing and rewarding acts of excellence and dedication among its personnel. (PNA)
