LEGAZPI CITY --- Operatives seized over PHP8.1 million worth of suspected illegal drugs during weeklong operations from April 7 to 13, leading to the arrest of 29 suspects across the Bicol Region.

PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said 22 operations yielded over 1.1 kilograms of shabu.

Camarines Norte recorded the highest haul at PHP7.4 million, followed by Masbate, Camarines Sur, Naga City, Albay, Catanduanes, and Sorsogon.

Dizon reaffirmed PRO-5’s unwavering commitment to dismantling drug networks, stressing the importance of collaboration with local governments, barangays, and communities.

He encouraged public cooperation, especially in protecting youth from the dangers of drug abuse.

“This operation reflects our unwavering stance against the drug menace. We are relentless and uncompromising when it comes to protecting our communities. We will not stop until every barangay in Bicol is safe and drug-free,” he added.

The suspects arrested during these operations are now facing charges under Republic Act No. 9165, known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, the PRO-5 Officers Ladies Club Foundation, Inc. (OLCFI) extended aid to 15 police personnel facing health issues, offering financial and grocery support.

The Foundation also donated a playhouse to the PRO-5 Children’s Learning Center, enhancing its educational environment.

Dizon praised the Foundation’s efforts and emphasized that caring for personnel is key to PRO-5’s mission. The initiative reflects the group’s core values of compassion, service, and community solidarity. (PNA)
